This annual scholarship is awarded to a deserving relative of an active IAA member and is funded from proceeds of the annual Conference and Show Fun Auction.
The scholarship amount is one thousand dollars ($1,000), and only one scholarship will be awarded each year.
• Must be a child/stepchild or grandchild/step-grandchild of an Iowa Auctioneers Association Member (parent, grandparent, or legal guardian) who is in good standing with the IAA and has attended at least two Conventions in the past five years.
• Applicants must have maintained at least a 2.5 grade point average during their last two years in high school and plan to enroll as a freshman in an institution of higher learning or vocational training institution in any state. Alternatively, current college or university students are eligible to apply and must have maintained a minimum 3.0 grade point average while enrolled.
• Must not have previously been awarded this scholarship.
• List of academic honors and community service activities, if applicable.
• Current transcript (unofficial).
• A 500–800-word personal statement summarizing lessons learned from experience in the auction profession and/or how the scholarship funds would be utilized. (Remove all identifying names or business names related to the applicant or their active IAA member relative for impartial review by the Scholarship Committee).
• Proof of acceptance or enrollment in a post-secondary degree program.
• Two letters of recommendation.
All applications must be submitted to the Iowa Auctioneers Association by March 15th.
The Scholarship Committee will select the recipient from the applications received.
The scholarship winner will be announced at the Iowa State Fair Bid Calling Contest. Funds will be disbursed directly to the winner’s institution of higher learning or vocational training institution for tuition, books, or other educational expenses and not paid directly to the winning recipient.
The scholarship recipient and their parent(s) or guardian(s) will be invited as guests of the Iowa Auctioneers Association to the Iowa State Fair Bid Calling Contest to receive the award.
